The Song of the Lamb Part 1
The painting by Poussin is the destruction of Jerusalem and Herod’s Temple by Titus and the armies of Rome in 70 A.D.. Jesus Himself declared this event would be the sign on earth that the Son of Man is ruling the nations from the right hand of God in heaven. The Song of the Lamb was a prophetic song sung by the saints of the early Church prophesying this very event.

The Song of the Lamb is a prophetic song of victory and dominion based upon the ancient prophesy given to the Prophet Isaiah by the Spirit of Christ hundreds of years before His incarnation. In this prophetic song, the Lamb of God prophesies the historic judgment that ultimately came upon apostate Israel in 70 AD as the Kingdom of God was taken from Old Covenant Israel and given to the saints of New Covenant Israel. The early Apostolic Church sang this song as a their testimony of their faith in King Jesus and His victory over Satan’s power, as they faced fierce persecution instigated by the Chief Priests and Elders of Israel and prosecuted by the Romans against Christ and His Church in the first century AD. This prophetic song was historically fulfilled in 70 AD with the burning of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Temple by the Romans, but it is still relevant for Christians and for Christ’s Church as we face today’s battles with the Kingdom of darkness in the 21st Century.
